Former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed has been approached by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for bowling coach of Bangladesh. This proposal has come as soon as Heath Streak decided not to renew his contract that ended on May 2016. Streak has contributed enough for Bangladesh rise in limited-over cricket over the years and has made them one of the promising teams across formats. Javed, on the other hand, recently resigned as coach of UAE during the same tenure as Heath Streak’s contract time. Javed had recently also applied for Head Coach role for his national side, that did not work out in favor of the former cricketers as preference belonged to international cricketers and PCB made their decision selecting Mickey Arthur as the new coach last month. BCB president Nazmul Hassan is in touch with Aaqib Javed regarding the coaching talks. Nazmul said, “We are in touch with Aaqib Javed. Our CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed us that we will get an answer from him – yes or no – by day after tomorrow (Tuesday). We are also discussing if we can talk about the alternatives,” as mentioned on cricbuzz.com. Javed has played 22 Tests and 163 ODIs for Pakistan between 1989 and 1998. As for his stint as UAE coach, Javed has helped the side to qualify for Un-19 World Cup 2014, ICC T20 World Cup 2014, ICC World Cup 2015 as well as the recent Asia Cup T20 2016 tournament.
