Abdur Rehman is all set to be drafted as a replacement for Saeed Ajmal, who was reportedly banned after being reported with an illegal bowling action. Rehman will now head the slow bowling department for Pakistan when they play Australia next month in United Arab Emirates.

Ajmal was banned from playing international cricket after  his deliveries exceeded the the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under regulations. The 36-year-old  off-spinner will now have to go through a procedure of re-assesment before he comes back to international cricket.

Rehman , 34, is poles apart from what Ajmal is , a slow left-arm orthodox he is more about accuracy than spin.  After his Test debut in 2007, Rehman has picked up 99 wickets at an average of 29.39 and a strike rate 69.6. Rehman has always been a back up option for Pakistan as they have huge armoury of spinners . As a result , Rehman has got limited chances – only 22 Test caps in 8 years – but he will like to savour this opportunity.
