Aditya Tare records most dismissals by wicketkeeper in a Ranji Trophy season

Aditya Tare lead Mumbai to their 41st title in his first full season as captain.

Mumbai captain Aditya Tare not only led Mumbai to their 41st Ranji Trophy title, he also created a record of his own. He recorded the most number of dismissals by a wicketkeeper in a single Ranji Trophy season. Tare finished with a total of 48 dismissals this season surpassing Srikar Bharat, who had 46 dismissals to his name in the 2014-15 season.  He also equaled Bharat’s record of most catches in a season with 45 scalps. This was the first full season Tare had lead the side and managed to lead them to the title. He led Mumbai ina few matches in the 2014-15 season, where Mumbai lost in the semi-final to eventual champions Karnataka. Mumbai beat Saurashtra by an innings and 21 runs  in the final to clinch the title. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with an excellent 117, which helped Mumbai pt up 371 runs on the board. The innings also saw a 103-run partnership between Siddhesh Lad and Balwinder Sandhu for the 10th wicket, which is also a record for Mumbai. Dhawal Kulkarni picked up five in the first innings, but it was Shardul Thakur, who picked up a fifer in the second innings to send Saurashtra packing. Iyer also finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer 1321 runs. Courtesy of his efforts this season, Iyer is second on the list of highest run-scorers in a singlr Ranji season behind VVS Laxman.  Mumbai will now play the Irani Trophy against Rest of India  at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
