Former England wicketkeeper-batsman Alec Stewart feels that England should look ahead to win more important tournaments against top sides; just like they did against Australia in Ashes 2015. He gave a piece of advice to the present crop of English cricketers; saying that they should concentrate more on how things can be made better and how milestones can be achieved rather than contemplating on things which are not in their hands and also on issues which relate to things which should be avoided. Stewart feels England performed exceedingly well against the world champions and praised the performance of Stuart Broad, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and James Anderson . VIDEO: Jos Buttler and Alec Stewart participate in questions and answers session

In a conversation with Mancunian Matters he said, “I wouldn’t be too concerned about what we can’t do, I’d look at what we can do, and perhaps it’s Australia that need to look at what they need to improve on. We’ve played some good cricket. We’re far from the finished article, but we’re on the road to being a very good side… There’s not as much quick, fast-bowling now, but we’ve just won the Ashes. They’ve just taken on Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc and come out on top. Facing 90mph thunderbolts is not easy but I thought our players coped very well.” Stewart is considered as one among the top 10 greatest wicketkeeper-batsmen to have played the game. The right-hander had a Test average of 39.54 and ODI average of 31.60. He scored 15 hundreds in Test cricket. Alec Stewart: ECB should hang their ‘heads in shame’ over treatment of Peter Moores
