Rohan Joshi, a comedian working with the group All India Bakchod (AIB) received a backlash from his followers on Twitter when he posted an ill-timed tweet on Monday, relating fixing in cricket and the death of Jagmohan Dalmiya. The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) passed away Sunday in a Kolkata hospital, and his death marked the end of an era of cricket administration in India. Dalmiya is credited for turning India into a financial powerhouse in the field of cricket, and is also widely recognised for turning the International Cricket Council (ICC) into a financially strong organization during his tenure.

On Monday, Rohan Joshi wrote on Twitter linking the death of the BCCI president and fixing in cricket. The comedian has a verified profile and a huge fan following, and many of them turned up to let him know that his tweet was ‘too soon’ and was not timed improperly.

The comedian, though, stood by his tweet and later on when he learnt about so many people disliking it, he conceded that it may have been ill-timed. However, it was commendable to see that he did not decide to delete it.

This is not the first time AIB has forayed into cricket and ended up misfiring. A few months ago, they teamed up with Jus Reign and produced a video on ‘How to Cricket Basics and Training’. While they tried their best to create humour in a video showing how to play the game, it turned out to be a lame product for many.
