India’s limited-overs batsman Ambati Rayudu is likely to move to Vidarbha for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2016-17 season. The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) has confirmed that they  have been discussing with Rayudu about the prospect of the right-hander moving to their side, since last few months. Rayudu, hailing from Hyderabad, had earlier moved to Baroda after his home side was relegated to the plate-division of the Ranji Trophy. If Rayudu moves to Vidarbha, he will be joining the likes of Wasim Jaffer — the highest individual run-scorer in the Indian domestic circuit — Ganesh Satish and Faiz Fazal in the Vidarbha batting line up. Subramaniam Badrinath, their captain who led them to the semi-finals of last year’s season has not been issued a renewed contract as of now. READ: Ambati Rayudu: Happy with way my ODI career has gone

“Yes. We are in talks with Rayudu but nothing has been penned down. He will be good edition to Vidarbha if it materialises. We will announce soon once the contract is signed,” an official from VCA was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

The official added, “Rayudu’s name was discussed during Cricket Development meeting and we had given this responsibility to Paras Mhambrey, who is also in Mumbai Indians coaching staff. Paras has been in touch with Rayudu since last two-three months. However, he was busy with his national commitments and the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is yet to get No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Baroda Cricket Association.”
