Andhra Pradesh Ranji Trophy woman cricketer allegedly commits suicide

Police is yet to record statement of her husband Maddineni Satya Prasad.

Andhra Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy’s woman cricketer Durga Bhavani allegedly committed suicide on Sunday at her residence in Gunadala in Andhra Pradesh, police said, according to ibnlive.com. Guru Praksh, investigation officer attached with Machavaram Police station suggested that certain family reasons may be the reason behind this horrid step taken by the 28-year-old sportswoman. Police is yet to record statement of her husband Maddineni Satya Prasad. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling and has been sent for post mortem and a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered and investigations are underway. According to Deccan Chronicle, Bhavani was married to physical education teacher of SKPVV Hindu High School Satya Prasad, 40, who was also her coach. Bhavani is survived by a three-year-old daughter. Bhavani was in the news earlier for her sexual harassment allegations against former Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) secretary V Chamundeshwarnath. She had reportedly filed a case against Chamundeshwarnath, but withdrew it later.
