Debutant Varun Aaron has revealed that former West Indian great Andy Roberts is his favourite bowler.
Aaron during the press conference after day one’s play said that bowling fast is a natural thing, and that it cannot be learnt. He said,” I feel bowling quick is natural […] it’s a god-given thing. I don’t have any idol as such but my favourite bowler is Andy Roberts.”
Aaron further added that he does not feel the pressure of being one of the fastest bowler in he country. He said,” There is definitely no pressure. It is a compliment that I have been recognised for bowling fast. I want to train hard and do my best in the future.”
Aaron feels that India has good facilities in form of MRF pace academy and National Cricket Academy (NCA) to groom young fast bowlers.“We have a good set up in India. There is NCA and there is MRF Pace Foundation where quick bowlers can train.
“If you have an injury you can always go and recover there. If you stay fit you can always bowl fast,” he said.

Aaron also added that bowling fast without directions yields no result to a fast bowler. He said,” Just bowling fast will not get you anywhere. To bowl in international cricket you have to bowl a good line and length.”
