Brendon McCullum, England’s head coach was denied entry to Headingley in the ongoing third Ashes Test, which was a surprising turn of events. McCullum was stopped by a security guard despite showing his identity, who denied him entry due to an incorrect pass.
As per the British media, even after learning McCullum’s identity, the security guard remained unmoved. McCullum became baffled by that treatment.
The following events after this episode are as yet unclear. On the other hand, it has been established that McCullum was able to observe the Headingley Test on its first day.
The Headingley Remains Test had uplifted safety efforts because of worries about expected unsettling interference from Just Stop Oil activists. After being stopped and searched by security staff on the first day, two people were denied entry to the venue.
They were excluded from the ground when their suspicious baggage and the Just Stop Oil t-shirts they were wearing under their coats were discovered. Recent incidents at other sporting events similar to the one in the second Ashes Test, Wimbledon, and the World Snooker Title, had placed Headingley security authorities on guard.
Captain Ben Stokes produced another heroic Headingley performance and the bowlers took crucial late wickets as England kept their Ashes 2023 hopes alive on an exciting day two of the third Test against Australia, here on Friday.
Despite losing four wickets before stumps on Day 2, Australia managed to strengthen their position in the third Ashes Test as their lead swelled to 142.
Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh ensured Australia didn’t suffer any more setbacks before stumps on Day 2. The pair added an unbeaten 26-run stand, taking the visitors to 116/4.
