Nathan Lyon, who was at the top of the form for Australia against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded tour, feels his side can find the best form against South Africa in the upcoming Test series. Australia were whitewashed by Sri Lanka in the three Test series, despite the subcontinent favouring the spinners. However, the conditions will be different in the upcoming series and Lyon will be looking forward for his team to respond strongly when the first Test begins at Perth on November 3. Lyon said his teammates learnt plenty of lessons from the disappointing series in Sri Lanka. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Australia vs South Africa, 1st Test at Perth

Lyon however believes they will be better equipped to perform at a higher level when they return to the subcontinent to battle India in a four-match Test series starting in February. Speaking to Fairfax Media, Lyon said, Yes, South Africa are a great team they’ve got some world-class superstars in there but we need to go out and play well. We just need to get out there and compete out there and get back to playing some good, strong, positive cricket. We’ll be better for that run in Sri Lanka, for all the experience. A lot of players had never played in the subcontinent before so it’s [now] an opportunity for us to get better.”

When speaking about Australia s game in the subcontinent, Lyon feels they will have to tweak their game in the future and play some ugly cricket.

He concluded, “We might have to adjust a few things here and there and might have to play some ugly cricket and go away from the big expansive game of cricket.
