Avishek Dalmiya elected Regional Chairman of Export Promotion Council

Avishek Dalmiya who is also Director of ML Dalmiya & Co. Ltd, a leading construction company of India, was on Thursday elected as the Regional Chairman of the EOUs and SEZs for the term 2016-2018.

Kolkata: Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya who is also Director of ML Dalmiya & Co. Ltd, a leading construction company of India, was on Thursday elected as the Regional Chairman of the Export Promotion Council For Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) for the term 2016-2018. The Primary objectives of this Export Promotion Council is to promote exports from India and thereby help in earning more foreign exchange for the country. For promotion of exports, it organizes buyer-seller meets. In addition, it participates in trade fairs, exhibitions in India and abroad.

Other functions, include facilitating interaction between exporting community and Government, both at Central and State Levels. It takes up issues affecting EOUs and SEZs with various ministries like Commerce, Finance, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Reserve Bank of India, etc. There is no doubt that the SEZ scheme is playing a significant role in the country’s economy creating infrastructure, promotion of export of goods and services and generation of employment,” said a statement from Avishek.

Avishek is son of renowned Cricket Administrator Late Jagmohan Dalmiya who was a Former President of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as the International Cricket Council (ICC). In 2015, Former India captain Sourav Ganguly was appointed the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), ending the suspense on who will take over the state cricket body following the death of Jagmohan Dalmiya. The announcement of Ganguly was made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in presence of senior CAB officials and state government ministers at the state secretariat building. In another major development, Dalmiya’s son Avishek was inducted as one of the two joint secretaries replacing the current incumbent Ganguly.
