Mehidy Hasan to Afsar Zazai. SIX, SIX! Well, Afsar is not thinking about Stumps or anything as he whacks this one over the fence. Flighted ball around off, Zazai comes down the track and drags this off side length ball to smoke this over the mid-wicket fence. The six brings up the 50-run stand between the two. Another solid and timely stand after a couple of quick wickets.

Mehidy Hasan to Asghar Afghan. SIX, SIX! Humongous! No half measures there from Afghan. Fuller ball on middle, Afghan skips down the track and slams this over the long on fielder to get another six.

DRINKS! Bangladesh have been on top of the first half of the final session. They managed to break Rahmat and Afghan’s stand after the former got Afghanistan’s maiden ton. Nayeem Hasan’s double wicket over has put his side on top again. Afghanistan are once again looking to rebuild here. The good thing for them is that the experienced, Asghar Afghan is still out in the middle and is looking strong.

Nayeem Hasan to Asghar Afghan. FOUR, FOUR! Good use of the feet from Asghar. It is a full delivery outside off, Asghar comes down the track and lofts it over the mid off fielder for a boundary.

    200 runs for AFG

  • 4:57 PM IST

Oh no! Once again there is movement around the boundary as the groundstaff are getting ready with the covers. It is starting to drizzle here and the wind is strong too.

Mehidy Hasan to Asghar Afghan. 1 run, FIFTY! Second Fifty for Asghar in Tests. Mehidy bowls a full delivery on the pads of Asghar who flicks it to square leg and takes a single to get to his milestone. It has been a good innings so far from him and has to continue the good work as the visitors have just lost two quick wickets. He did look fidgety at the start of the innings but has looked comfortable since then.

Nayeem Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. out, OUT! Bowled! Nabi walks back without troubling the scorers. This one spins and keeps low as well. It is pitched on off and middle, Nabi gets on his back foot and looks to punch it on the off side. The ball though keeps low and goes under his bat to disturb the off pole. Second wicket of the over and this has been a dream start to the new session for the hosts. Afghanistan getting pushed back again here.

Nayeem Hasan to Rahmat Shah. out, OUT! Caught! Hundred and out! Rahmat will be kicking himself. He was looking so good out in the middle but maybe the milestone has brought in a lapse of concentration here. Slower through the air closer to off pole. Rahmat goes for a big drive but the ball kisses the outside edge of his bat and goes low to first slip. Soumya Sarkar there shows good reflexes and takes a very good catch. End of a brilliant knock from the Afghani batter though. He will get a lot of praise for this and rightfully so.

TEA! 114 runs, no wickets. This should tell you which side goes into Tea with an upper hand. Rahmat Shah and Asghar Afghan have looked rock solid in their defense and have not missed out on putting the bad balls away. As far as the Bangladeshi spinners are concerned, they have hardly got any purchase from the surface. One can say that they have been a bit wayward as well but the Afghani duo in their 114-run stand have not given much of a sniff to them. Afghan also survived a LBW call with the help of DRS.

LIVE SCORE: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan: One-off Test, Day 1: Asghar Afghan closing in on maiden Test hundred

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 1 of the one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium,Chattogram on Thursday.

Afghanistan’s spin prodigy Rashid Khan faces a tough challenge as he captains his side for the first time against Bangladesh in only his war-torn country’s third Test starting Thursday.

Afghanistan obtained Test status in 2017. In their first outing in June 2018 India thrashed them inside two days, but in the second in March they beat fellow newcomers Ireland by seven wickets.

Leg-spinner Rashid was named skipper for all three formats after their dire World Cup campaign in England and Wales when they lost all nine matches and were dogged by several controversies.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) star will become the youngest ever Test captain at the age of 20 years 350 days when he steps out in the Test match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
