As Bangladesh prepare for their crucial home series against England, skipper Mashrafe Mortaza is expecting to recover from his injury. Mortaza suffered an ankle-injury as he twisted his ankle during run-up in the series against Afghanistan at home. Before playing with England, Bangladesh played a series with Afghanistan at home which they won 2-1 and are preparing for the upcoming series. Bangladesh have not played much international cricket recently, the Afghanistan series being their first since the ICC World T20 2016 and a series against England is something the team is eagerly awaiting. If Mortaza fails to recover within the time, he will surely be missed. READ: Bangladesh vs England: Pacer Al-Amin Hossain called back for two ODIs
Talking to bdnews24.com, Mortaza said, “I was kind of having a feeling about the injury since this morning (Monday). Anyway, there is a slight swelling. I hope the pain will go away. I have hurt this ankle before as well. That is why I am a bit uneasy. It might have been okay if I had 10 days. But we have five or six days to go before the England series. So I am a bit worried. Let us see, I hope there won’t be any problem.”
Bangladesh will play three One-day Internationals (ODIs) and two Tests with the team. Their series with Afghanistan turned out to be a fruitful one as they won a close contest. Afghanistan performed well to match up to Bangladesh. Mortaza, who was not in best of his form recently, did well in the Afghanistan series with the ball and the team needs the player against a strong England team.
