In a game that is very important for Pakistan at the ICC World T20 2014, Ahmed Shehzad has taken the attack to Bangladesh. A win today for Pakistan would mean that their contest against the West Indies on Tuesday would be a virtual quarter-final as beating Bangladesh would put Australia out of the competition. Bangladesh seem to have been knocked out of the tournament as they have lost two games quite convincingly. Shehzad is batting on 53 as Pakistan are at 75 for three in 10 overs.
Pakistan have lost the wickets of Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal though. Kamran was out while trying to loft the Abdur Razzak and was brilliantly caught by Ziaur Rahman at short fine-leg. Hafeez then tried to charge down the ground and was stumped in the ninth over. That too was Razzak’s scalp. Umar was out for a duck as he tried to cut Mahmudullah and was caught at short third-man.
However, Shehzad has been in brilliant form. He has used his feet and attacked the bowlers. A moment that stood out wasn’t when he connected, but when he missed. As Al-Amin Hossain ran in, Shehzad moved way outside the off-stump and the bowler bowled it full around the off-stump. It missed the stumps as Shehzad tried to scoop it. Apart from that it has been quite a controlled innings.
