Ahmed Shehzad has helped Pakistan get off to a good start in their ICC World T20 2014 encounter against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. But in the fifth over, they lost the wicket of Kamran Akmal. In five overs, Pakistan have scored 46 for one wicket. Shehzad is batting on 32 and Mohahhamd Hafeez is on one.
Shehzad has been in a very attacking mood. Mashrafe Mortaza bore the brunt of his willow in the third over. Shehzad first lofted him over mid-wicket and then flicked one behind square for another four. But, Mortaza was then charged at twice. Once, Shehzad made room and smashed it through the off-side, but the best shot was when he carted the last ball for six over long-off.
Shakib Al Hasan was brought in for the next over. Kamran swept him for a four off the second ball as the fine leg was inside the circle. Later, when he tried to pull, Mushfiqur missed it and Pakistan batsmen got three runs as a result.
Though Bangladesh are all but out of the tournament, their fans have still come for the game. It isn’t a capacity crowd, but a good one nevertheless. If Pakistan go on to beat Bangladesh, it would put Australia out of the competition even as they prepare to play their third game of the tournament, which would be against India later on Sunday.
Kamran then lobbed one in the air off Abdur Razzak and Ziaur Rahman took a brilliant catch at short fine-leg running backwards.
