The first day of the Test ended with South Africa firmly in charge at 307/2 with Tony de Zorzi unbeaten on 141 and David Bedingham unbeaten on 18. De Zorzi was the star of the day, scoring his first-ever Test ton which helped the Proteas cross the 300-run mark.
