Bangladesh resume the second day of the first Test at 27 for one still trailing by 213 in response to Zimbabawe’s 240. Shakib Al Hasan was the key player of the first day bagging six wickets in his comeback match. Shakib was out of the team for three months due to disciplinary issues.

Bangladesh could not have asked for a better start to the series. Shakib’s brilliance helped them restrict Zimbabwe. Their bowlers were spot on with their line and length and the visiting batsmen were left struggling as Zimbabwe’s decision to bat first backfired.

Zimbabawe pegged Bangladesh back towards the end of the day dismissing Tamim Iqbal for five. The pitch has some bite for the spinners and it will be interesting how the Zimbabwe slower bowlers respond on this wicket.

Brief scores:

Zimbabwe 240 (Sikandar Raza 51, Craig Ervine 34; Shakib Al Hasan 6 for 59) lead Bangladesh 27 for 1 (Mominul Haque 14; Tinashe Panyangara 1 for 20) by 213 runs.
