Bangladesh Women, who used to receive BDT 500 until last year will be getting a hike of BDT 100, and from now on they will be receiving BDT 600 per match. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Women’s Wing Chairman MA Awal Chowdhury Bulu announced the same on Saturday. However, the new hike has left Bangladesh skipper Rumana Ahmed disappointed. In comparison to the early days, Women’s cricket is receiving equal attention as to the men. A remuneration of BDT 600 per match could be not enough for the hard work which the women cricketers are provided with for every match. Even the BCB Women’s wing chairman is embarrassed with the hike. WWCQ, Super Six: Mithali, Mona strike fifties as IND beat BAN Women by 9 wickets
Bangladesh skipper Rumana said, “The amount is very little. It’s very disappointing. We feel humiliated at this,” as mentioned on bdcrictime.com. Awal Chowdhury Bulu added, “Sponsors come up with millions in men’s cricket, but when it comes to women’s cricket, they don’t want to give away anything at all. We tried a lot to bring in some specific sponsors, but we failed.” Bangladesh’s men players had received a huge hike recently. However, when it came to women cricketers and their payment, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon blatantly admitted that they had ‘forgotten’ about the women batters.
As per the current contract of 17 Bangladesh Women cricketers, they annually receive BDT 30,000, BDT 20,000 and BDT 10,000 as per their respective grades.
