Team India has suffered a major setback ahead of the fourth Test against England. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Nitish Kumar Reddy, one of the standout performers in the closely contested third Test at Lord’s, has suffered a serious knee injury and will miss the remainder of the series.

Akash Deep, one of India’s standout performers in Edgbaston, is likely to miss the Manchester Test due to a back injury. Team India is also facing another setback as fellow pacer Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth Test, which is scheduled from July 23 to 27.

According to Cricbuzz, Nitish Reddy, 22, has injured his left knee, making it unlikely for him to continue playing in the series. While the exact cause of the injury remains unknown, the incident may have occurred during a mobility training session. Due to rain in Manchester on Sunday, the Indian team trained indoors.

Nitish’s injury will only be fully understood after his scan results are available. Although he took three crucial wickets in both innings at Lord’s and scored 43 runs, the early signs are not encouraging for the young all-rounder.

On Sunday, the Indian team was missing a few players when they visited Old Trafford to meet Manchester United players. Both Nitish Reddy and KL Rahul missed the visit. However, the Indian opener is fully fit, and there is no cause for concern.

Cricbuzz has been informed that Nitish Reddy will almost certainly miss the series, although the scan results will provide a more detailed picture.
