England batsman Joe Denly’s belligerent 76 not out powered Sydney Sixers to a comprehensive six-wicket win over Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League 2018-19 (BBL) on Sunday. The 32-year-old also recorder his highest score in the BBL as the Sixers climbed to second position.
Chasing 151, the Sixers lost Justin Avendano for a duck to Michael Neser. But the other opener – Denly – went on a rampage and clobbered eight boundaries and one six during his unbeaten 60-ball 76 as the Sixers chased down the target with 10 balls to spare.
Denly took the opposition bowling attack to the cleaners, inclusing Afghanistan’s ace legspinner Rashid Khan, who despite picking up two wickts, went for over six runs an over.

Left-time spinner Steve O’Keefe picked two, while Sean Abbott and England pacer Tom Curran added one wicket to sum up a combined bowling show for the Sixers.
Brief scores: Sydney Sixers 152/4 (Joe Denly 76*; Rashid Khan 2/25) beat Adelaide Strikers 150/5 (Jake Weatherald 50, Jonathan Wells 42; Steve O’Keefe 2/31) by six wickets
