Patna: Senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday demanded disciplinary action against party MP Kirti Azad for targetting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the DDCA issue. This is the first time that action against Azad has been demanded by a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader after he targeted Jaitley on alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). Sushil Modi said the “party is likely to act against Azad after the winter session of the parliament”. Cricketer-turned-politician Azad is a BJP MP from Bihar’s Darbhanga constituency and the son of former Bihar chief minister Bhagwat Jha Azad. DDCA treasurer seeks legal action against Kirti Azad
Earlier, DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda said they are mulling legal recourse against BJP MP Kirti Azad, who has alleged that some of the prominent officials have been allegedly involved in financial bungling. “Kirti Azad has been making baseless allegations against the association for the past few days. He is malingning the image of some of our prominent members. Also he is only showing the documents released by us. Since he has made false allegations, the senior members strongly feel that we should be taking legal recourse and file a defamation suit against Kirti,” Manchanda told PTI. However, Azad on Monday challenged his party senior and the union finance minister Arun Jaitley for filing a defamation case as well. Jaitley, who presided over Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) from around 2008-2013, had on Monday filed a defamation suit against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for accusing him of corruption during his tenure, reported PTI.
