Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a warning letter to Tamim Iqbal after his “horrible” remark, describing the Dhaka wicket in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League. Tamim, in particular, was referring to the 35th match of the group stage between Comilla Victorians and the eventual champion Rangpur Riders. The Dhaka track, unlike Chittagong, produced low-scoring encounters, and the game between Riders and Victorians topped the list. Riders managed only 97 in 17.1 overs. In reply, Tamim-led Victorians managed to chase down the total in the last over, leaving Tamim fuming.

BCB refrained from disclosing what action has been taken against Tamim. On the other hand, Tamim understood his folly and vows to better his choice of words in future.

“I could have used better words. They raised their concern over my way of expression and I truly agree with them. Perhaps I could have used another word to describe it but probably could not place it well. They have told me that being a national player, BCB is our guardian and all these things – venue, wicket and outfield are our assets and I will be careful in the future. I hope in the coming years my actions will be better,” concluded Tamim.

Victorians topped the group stages but ended their run in Qualifiers 2, bowing out to Riders. Tamim will next be seen in the upcoming T-10 league.
