Brendon McCullum dismissed for a two-ball duck in the match between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Gujarat Lions (GL) at Mohali. Sandeep Sharma gets the most important scalp early on in the innings. Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who was standing up to the stumps grabbed on to the opportunity and managed to stump McCullum after he charged down the track and got beaten. This is a huge blow for GL as they would have wanted McCullum to get them off to a good start, chasing such a stiff target. Suresh Raina is the new batsman and he along with Aaron Finch will have to ensure that they put on a substantial partnership. It was Raina, who had won the toss and elected to bowl first. This is their first ever match in IPL history. They were one of the two new teams in this edition of the IPL. The other new team, who played in this edition were the Rising Pune Supergiants, who beat defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the tournament. GL will fancy themselves to win the match considering the depth they have in their batting line-up.
