Shane Watson, who lead Australia to CB Series win against Sri Lanka in absence of Michael Clarke, revealed how tapping into Shane Warne’s tactical genius helped him with his captaincy.
“I was going to have to learn very quickly having not had that many opportunities over the past 10 years, always being the younger member of the Australian squad then being in and out,” Watson was quote saying by Herald Sun.
“In the end I have been very lucky to be around so many great players and having Shane Warne to learn off the through the IPL, get inside his mind as he is one of the best thinkers that has played the game.
“Your natural flair come out as a leader.”
Watson said he is prepared to take on the added responsibility despite his heavy all-round workload.
“It has been a very exciting time to see the game from a different perspective, a lot of fun,” said Watson.
“I just try and do as good a job as I can, just roll with the punches. I have enjoyed every minute of the three opportunities I have had.”
