The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) 2016 — a cricketing tournament for celebrities across the country — will get off to a grand start on January 23 with Mumbai Heroes scheduled to take on the newbies Punjab De Sher. The teams in the tournament will be divided in two groups with the South Indian teams including Chennai Rhinos, Kerala Strikers, Karnataka Bulldozers and Telugu Warriors slotted together in Group B. The Group A will consist teams from across the country including Mumbai Heroes, Punjab de Sher, Bengal Tigers and Bhojpuri Dabanggs. Telugu Warriors are the defending champions of the tournament.
The venues for the games include some famous and historic grounds like the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, Bangalore’s M Chinaswamy and Kochi’s Nehru Stadium amongst others. The final match of the tournament is scheduled for February 14 and will see teams compete for glory in the group stages following which they have a chance to make it to the semi-final and final if they win.
