Cheteshwar Pujara has scored second triple century in First-Class cricket during the Ranji Trophy quarter-final encounter between Saurashtra and Karnataka. The right-hander was called up to the India One-Day International (ODI) squad a few days ago and has notched this score a day before the commencement of the series against England.
Pujara has been a prolific scorer in domestic cricket and has four double-centuries to show apart from the two triples. The ongoing game between Saurashtra and Karnataka is being played at the Saurashtra University Ground at Rajkot. In the first innings, Saurashtra were bowled out for 469, with Pujara scoring 37. They managed to take the first innings lead by restricting Karnataka to 396.
In the second essay, Saurashtra had the advantage, but needed to seal their qualification through to the next round. Pujara walked in to bat on day four and scored briskly. He ended the day on 261 not out and completed the triple in the morning session of the fifth and final day. Sheldon Jackson scored 117 and was involved in a 343 run partnership with Pujara.
At lunch on day five, Pujara is unbeaten on 318 with Saurashtra on 580 for four. The lead Karnataka by 653 runs.
