South African Fast Bowler Dale Steyn expressed his delight after reaching the milestone of 400 Test wickets and said that he never thought he could manage as many as 400 Test wickets. Steyn, who claimed his 400th wicket against Bangladesh with Tamin Iqbal becoming the victim, is the 13th bwoler in the history of cricket to get to this landmark and the fact that he is the fastest amongst them to get the 400 number in terms of number of balls shows his excellence and consistency in the whites. According to a report from Indian Express, the 32-year old pacer, whose next target is countryman Shaun Pollock’s national record of 421 wickets, said,” I would’ve been happy if I had taken just one wicket in my international career. It’s enough to play and take wickets for South Africa and then I managed to get 400. I never thought that would happen ever in my life. “I have never been a stats person. It’s nice to have these numbers but I have had a lot better moments in my cricketing career. Winning games for my country has always been objective number one so the job’s not over yet. I love what I am doing right now, even if it’s in 40 degree heat and the ball is staying ankle high. It’s not bouncing and it’s very slow but I would rather be here than anywhere else,” the top-ranked Test bowler added.
The Day-2 of the second Test between South Africa and Bangladesh has been washed out due to heavy rainfall at Dhaka. READ: Dale Steyn: The most complete fast bowler of this generation
