South African fast bowler Dale Steyn became the 13th bowler to claim 400 Test wickets and he reached the historic milestone in the second Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday. Steyn is the fastest pacer to get to this landmark, taking 16634 balls after former New Zealand veteran Richard Hadlee, who utilized more than 20K deliveries. Bangladesh’s most experienced batsman in the squad at the moment Tamin Iqbal will be now also be remembered as Steyn’s 400th victim in the whites. Tamim, who attempted to go for the drive, ended up edging it to Hashim Amla and etched his name in the history. Bangladesh lost their first wicket with 12 runs on board as a result of the dismissal, after skipper Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first.
