Australia’s attacking left-handed batsman David Warner’s splendid innings of 77 against South Africa in the second T20I has earned him a place in the list of ICC’s top 10 T20 International (T20I) batsmen. Aaron Finch is currently at the top of the rankings. Warner played a gem of an innings against the Proteas on Sunday to seal a victory for his side in the second T20 match in a 3-match series. Warner along with Glenn Maxwell put on a 161-run stand to take Australia from 32-3 to 193-4 hitting 6 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. With this explosive innings, Warner rose from the 17th spot in the rankings to the 9th spot. Maxwell meanwhile reached a career best ranking of 31. Finch, the No.1 T20I batsman according to the rankings although, faced a stiff competition from Virat Kohli who has not let go off any opportunity to score runs for India in the format. Kohli stood at the second place with 834 points and Finch stands at 858 points, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis holds the third rank with 797 points after he played an excellent innings of 79 at The Wanderers.

A big leap was made by Bangladesh’s Sabbir Rehman who also won the man of the series award in Asia Cup T20 2016 for his impressive batting. Sabbir jumped 44 spots to reach the 20th spot in the rankings.

In terms of bowling, Imran Tahir, South Africa’s leg break bowler climbed to the 3rd spot jumping four places and his teammate David Wiese entered the top 10 list with his name at the 8th spot. Kyle Abott wasn’t far either. He ended up on the 12th spot. Bangladesh’s Al-Amin Hossain got his reward for a good bowling performance in the Asia Cup as he stormed into the top 15.

Shane Watson was the number one All-rounder according to the rankings, ahead by just a single point to Shakib Al Hasan. The hosts of the T20 World Cup, India will start as favourites as they begin their campaign as the No. 1 ranked team ahead by nine points to the second placed West Indies.
