The state government on Tuesday, handed over the Dharamshala stadium to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) a day after the High Court restored “status quo ante” in respect of the takeover of HPCA land and properties.
The Anurag Thakur-led HPCA was given the possession of the stadium in the evening by the district administration.
The court had told the Himachal Pradesh government to give up control of the properties held by the cricket body and disapproved the action, saying it was politically motivated.
A division bench of Chief Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Kuldip Singh restored the position as existed on October 26 when the government cancelled the lease of lands given to HPCA and took possession of the properties past midnight.
The body hoped that other assets would soon be handed over to them.
“HPCA duly welcomes the Honorable High Court of Himachal Pradesh decision restoring “STATUS QUO ANTE” in favour of the association, wherein all the assets of HPCA taken over by the government have been restored to it. The same order has been submitted to the various deputy commissioners in Dharamshala, Hamirpur and Shimla for compliance by our authorised representatives on Wednesday,” HPCA press secretary Mohit Sood said in a statement.
“We had been saying that everything has been done according to the rules and laws of the country and our stand has been vindicated by the interim stay order of the honorable High court.”
“We are committed carry out the schedules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and HPCA matches and develop world class facilities to the players of the state and create more infrastructures for them,” he said.
