India Green managed to brush off their shaky start, as they trail India Red by 237 runs at the dinner break on Day Two of the Duleep Trophy 2017-18, at Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. The Greens were off to a wobbly start, losing the openers Ravikumar Samarth (5) and Murali Vijay (4) in quick succession. However, it was Prashant Chopra, along with Karun Nair, who have played sensible cricket for now and have also managed to steady the innings. For Red, Karn Sharma is the only bowler to have claimed a wicket so far. Live Cricket Updates, Duleep Trophy 2017-18, IND Red vs IND Green, Day 2 at Lucknow
Earlier on Day Two, India Red were bundled for a decent total of 323, courtesy opener Priyank Panchal’s 105 and half-centuries from opener Sudip Chaterjee and skipper Dinesh Karthik. Murali Vijay claimed 3 for 46 for the Green.
With 6 runs on the board, opener Vijay fell for a mere 4 to Karn. His fellow opener Samarth fell for just 5 off an unfortunate run out. Nevertheless, despite what looked like an unstable start for the Green, Prashant and Karun steadied the innings. Both have managed to stop the Red’s bowlers from doing further damage as they trail by 237 runs, while Prashant is just 3 runs short of his half-century.
Brief scores
India Red 323 (Sudip Chatterjee 52, Priyank Panchal 105; Murali Vijay 3 for 46) lead India Green 86 for 2 (Prashant Chopra 47; Karn Sharma 1 for 16) by 237 runs.
