Collingwood, 35, who retired from Test cricket after England's Ashes triumph in Australia this year, had been linked with a move away from the north-east to Midlands side Derbyshire.

Former England Twenty20 captain Paul Collingwood signed on for three more years with Durham after penning a new deal with his native county Friday. Collingwood, 35, who retired from Test cricket after England’s Ashes triumph in Australia this year, had been linked with a move away from the north-east to Midlands side Derbyshire.
But, with Durham top of the County Championship, the all-rounder, who led England to World Twenty20 glory in the Caribbean last year, has decided to stay at the club where he made his first-class debut 15 years ago. “I’m a Durham lad through and through and I’ve really enjoyed being back in the dressing room with the guys,” said Collingwood.
“The club is ambitious and the quality of the team shows how committed we are to winning more silverware over the coming years and I want to be part of that — bringing more sporting success back to the north-east.”
Despite retiring from Test cricket, Collingwood — due to play for the Perth Scorchers in Australia’s Big Bash League later this year — remains available for selection by England in one-day and Twenty20 internationals.
