Angus Fraser, the England national team selector, has said that one has to leave a margin of inconsistency for a team with young players, citing their lack of experience at the international level. According to Fraser, the tendency for experimentation by younger players leaves them more vulnerable to the odd inconsistency and senior players are required so as to negate those inconsistencies and maintain the right balance. Fraser expressed faith in coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Alastair Cook to help England rise higher in Test cricket. Alastair Cook: Being underdogs ahead of the Ashes 2015 helped us win

“When you’ve got young players finding their way, maybe not making the right decisions every time they go out there, there are going to be inconsistent performances,” Fraser was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “That’s why you need your senior players around. Someone like Alastair Cook just grinds out runs even when he’s not in the best form. It’s about the side evolving,” Fraser added. ALSO READ: Michael Clarke hails Alastair Cook as a ‘great guy’

“There will be disappointing days and disappointing games, but during this summer you hope everyone has seen there are some good cricketers there, too, who are really capable of grabbing games by the scruff of the neck,” Fraser said in reference to England’s summer which included a two-Test match series against New Zealand and the traditional five Ashes games.
