England surpass Sri Lanka to reach fifth position in ICC ODI Rankings after winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka by 3-0. They were two points behind Sri Lanka before the ODI series started but managed to go four points ahead at the end of the series. The only game where Sri Lanka matched England was in first ODI where the match tied, thanks to Liam Plunkett’s last ball six. Australia is currently leading the ICC ODI rankings followed by New Zealand, India and South Africa. Joe Root and Jos Buttler also jumped places as they are currently on 7th and 15th position in ICC ODI Batsman Rankings. Jason Roy too reached his career best 48th position after his spectacular performance in ODI series. Roy scored two centuries in the series including his highest individual score of 162 in 4th ODI during their chase. England bowlers too went up the ladder in ICC ODI Bowler Rankings. Adil Rashid climbed from 30th to 18th position. Whereas reached his career best 29th position and Liam Plunkett reached 88th position after taking 10 wickets in the series. Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews too advanced in the rankings as he reached 18th position and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal reached 52nd spot as he was the leading run scorer for Sri Lanka in the series followed by the skipper. Sri Lanka have had a horrible tour as they have failed to win a single match against the hosts both in Test series and ODI series. They are to play the only T20 match of the tour on July 5.
