England Women set a target of 149 against Pakistan in match 19 being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Charlotte Edwards and Tammy Beaumont opened the innings for England. They were off to a flying start with 39/0 in their 4 overs. Beaumont raced on to 18 off just 8 balls hitting four boundaries off Anam Amin’s second over. They quickly raced on to 48/0 in 5 overs and were scoring at almost more than 9.5 runs per over. After the power-play ended England were cruising at 55/0. Nida Dar picked up Beaumont as England lost their first wicket with 68 runs on the board. Sarah Taylor then joined Edwards at the crease. Taylor was out early bowled by Nida Dar as she was bowled for a duck. After 11 overs England were 74/2. Sciver then came out to bat alongside Edwards who was still playing at run-a ball. Sciver didn’t last long at the wicket as she was done by Dar’s brilliance yet again. England’s score read 89/3 in 13 overs. With Danielle Wyatt coming out to bat the run-rate had certainly dropped down a bit. Dar finished with figures of 3-21 in her 4 overs.
England reached the 100-run mark in the 15th over and looked to smash many more runs in the last 5 overs. Edwards went to the next gear in the 16th over hitting Yousuf for three consecutive balls and reached her half-century too. Sada Yousuf ended with figures of 0-26 in her quota of overs. With 3 overs left England’s score was 123/3. Sana Mir finished with 0-29. Before the last over England were 142/3. They lost the wicket of Wyatt off the second last ball of the ultimate over. And Iqbal sent Elwiss back to the dug-out off the last ball too.
