Former India cricketer Jacob Martin has met with a severe accident and is undergoing treatment in hospital. The news was revealed by India allrounder Yusuf Pathan, who broke the news about his Baroda team-mate on Twitter.

“Former India cricketer and ex-Baroda coach Jacob Martin met with an accident and is in the hospital. Wish you a speedy recovery Jacob bhai and praying for your wellbeing. #getwellsoon,” Yusuf tweeted on Wednesday and attached a picture of Martin on the hospital bed.

Martin, who has played 10 ODIs between 1999 and 2001, was Baroda’s coach for the 2016-17 season. The right-handed batsman, who bowled a bit of leg spin as well, made his debut against West Indies in Toronto in 1999. He had scored 1000 runs in the Ranji Trophy season that year which was instrumental in him sealing a place in the Indian squad.

In the domestic circuit, Martin has scored 9192 runs in 138 matches at a healthy average of 46.65. He played his last first-class game in 2009.
