Gautam Gambhir takes a dig at Bishan Bedi, Chetan Chauhan as Navdeep Saini debuts for India

Former India international and Delhi cricketer Gautam Gambhir took a dig at cricket veterans Bishan Singh Bedi and Chetan Chauhan, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) members, early  before Navdeep Saini starred in his international debut against West Indies in the 1st T20I at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday.

Gambhir a vocal supporter of Saini, blasted the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) members, who had been critical of Saini early in his career.

Gambhir took to twitter to congratulate Saini on his debut stating that he already has to wickets to his name even before he bowled his first international delivery in the form of Bedi and Chauhan. ALSO READ: Navdeep Saini is someone who can build a name for himself: Kohli

“Kudos Navdeep Saini on ur India debut. U already have 2 wkts even before u have bowled— @BishanBedi & @ChetanChauhanCr. Their middle stumps are gone seeing debut of a player whose cricketing obituary they wrote even before he stepped on the field, shame!!! @BCCI”

Bedi and Chauhan were part of a faction of the DDCA members who had made their reservations on Gambhir’s choice to bring in Saini in the Delhi Ranji Trophy team, when Gambhir lead the team in 2015-16. But, with Gambhir’s backing, Saini impressed and made his way to the India representational sides, finally culminating in an international debut, where he picked up 3/17 in his four overs including a maiden in the last over of the West Indies innings. West Indies were restricted to a paltry 95/9 after being put into bat on a damp pitch. Pacer Navdeep Saini had a dream debut picking up three wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar added two as the new-ball bowlers ran riot.
