A fifth wicket stand of 135 runs between Rohit Naik (99 runs, 360b, 419m, 9×4) and Sumiran Amonkar (79 runs, 294b, 363m, 10×4) helped Goa to escape from the jaws of defeat against Vidarbha in the U-22 C K Nayudu four-day match.
Starting after follow-on from 139 for three, Goa reached 291 for seven before play was stopped after the end of fourth mandatory over.
Rohit Naik missed century by just one run playing a gusty inning along with in form batsman Sumiran Amonkar, who scored 79 runs.
Rohit added another 58 runs for the fifth wicket with Darshan Misal to take home team to safety.
For Vidarbha, Amogh Dani and Gaurav Bhalerao bagged two wickets each while Viraj Kabade, Aditya Sarvate and Sumit Ruikar scalped for one wicket apiece.
Vidarbha got three points by virtue of first innings lead over Goa, while the host had to be content with a point.
With three points Vidharba take their points tally to 16 and enter the semifinals of the tournament.
Goa took their tally to 12 from five matches. (PTI)
