Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill continued his stellar form in the ongoing Indian Premier League, reaching the milestone of 5000 runs in his T20 career after his team’s commanding win over Delhi Capitals.
Shubman Gill played a brilliant knock of 93 runs off 53 balls at a strike rate of 175.47, smashing three fours and seven massive sixes. During this innings, he surpassed Virat Kohli in the list of fastest Indians to reach 5000 runs in T20 cricket.
Virat Kohli reached this feat in 164 innings, whereas Gill reached this milestone in 154 innings. KL Rahul holds the record as the fastest Indian to reach 5000 runs in T20 cricket, achieving the feat in just 143 innings. He struck a century in the clash between DC and GT at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, but despite his brilliant knock, it wasn’t enough to stop the Titans from securing a win.
Gill became the sixth highest batter to reach this feat, the other five batter who have achieved this milestone includes Chris Gayle (132), KL Rahul (143), Shaun Marsh (144), Devon Conway (144), and Babar Azam (145).
With their victory over Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans climbed to the top of the table with 18 points and officially secured their place in the playoffs.”Feels great to be able to get that Q on the board. Still, two important games for us, getting the momentum into the playoffs, will be very important.” Gill said dring the Post-match presentation
“Feels amazing, I have talked about this a couple of times, when I’m batting, I want to play and think as a batsman, not as a captain. Last year was a learning for me as I was captain for the 1st time, and the back end last season I learnt that.” Gill added
