Former Pakistan cricketer Hanif Mohammad has been hospitalised and is undergoing treatment in an intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a private hospital in Karachi. He was hospitalised due to complications from a recurring cancer disease. The legendary Pakistan cricketer said that he tried to contacted many people after his health deteriorated , but nobody responded to his call. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the Pakistan government will bear all hospital expenses of Hanif. Sharif also prayed that he gets well soon. Hanif has represented Pakistan in 55 Tests, scoring 3,915 runs at an average of 43.98. he still holds the record for Pakistan’s highest individual score in an innings, which is 337. A pained Hanif said, My son Shoaib has been calling everyone; Sindh’s Governor, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and his brother Shahbaz Sharif, but no one answered,” he said. “I consider myself an unfortunate person because of this,” he added, according to tribune.com.pk.
Hanif often voiced his opinion about the happenings in Pakistan cricket. He most recently voiced his views about feeling sad after his favourite cricketer Younis Khan’s misconduct in the Pakistan Cup in April 2016. “I am feeling sad because Younis is my favorite batsman and not only is he a big player but a big person as well who always respects his elders. That is why his behavior came as a disappointment to me,” Hanif told the Express newspaper. “I think what happened has happened and this chapter should be closed now and there should be no more negativity around it,” he further added.
