Happy Birthday, Faf Du Plessis: South African batsman turns 32
Known for his strong defence, exciting strokeplay and wonderful technique, footwork, Du Plessis was named captain of the South African T20 side in February 2013.
Du Plessis made his Test debut for South Africa in November 2012 against Australia at Adelaide. He has scored 1,682 runs in 29 Tests for his team at an average of 41.02. He has 4 hundreds and 8 fifties to his name in the Test format. His highest is 137 runs. In the ODI format, Du Plessis has 3,083 runs in 91 matches at an average of 40.56 and a strike rate of 86.33. He has 5 hundreds and 22 fifties in the ODI cricket. He has a highest of 133 not out, which came against India in 2015. In the T20 format, Du Plessis has scored 1,093 runs in 35 matches for South Africa at an average of 37.68. His strike is at an impressive 132.64 and healso has a hundred to his name in T20Is.
In his short career so far, Du Plessis has also played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL, although he was added to the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) roster in IPL 2016. He has also played for Lancashire in England's County Cricket. In the ongoing Caribben Premier League (CPL) 2016, Du Plessis is a part of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots team.
