India have had an impressive run in the Women’s World Cup. During the semi-final against Australia, Harmanpreet Kaur probably played one of the most memorable knocks in the history of India Women’s cricket. While her knock and batting style has been thoroughly praised, she mentioned playing in Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) has helped her learn a lot before India’s series against South Africa as well as in World Cup. She also said she would want more of her teammates to play in WBBL as that would help the team’s future performances. Harmanpreet moves up to 6th spot in ICC ODI Rankings

On being asked how BBL helped her batting, she said: “From the very beginning, I loved batting aggressively and that helped me in BBL. There were many fine cricketers in BBL and I got to learn a lot from them, their batting. Those things helped me later on in South Africa as well as during World Cup. Like I and Smriti [Mandhana] got to play in BBL, I would want more cricketers to get a chance to play in BBL as they will get to learn a lot from the experience, which in turn will help the team grow.”

There was a moment when Harmanpreet lost temper after a miscommunication between her and Deepti Sharma when the latter survived a close run out. When asked about the incident, Harmanpreet clarified: “at that moment, I did not want to lose either mine or Deepti’s wicket and a misunderstanding took place in the heat of the moment.”
