Mumbai: Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi’s character in his debut web series is reportedly inspired by former Indian Premiere League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi. “Bangistan” director Karan Anshuman’s 12-part web series, titled “Power Play” is based on cricket tournament Indian Premiere League (IPL) and the controversy surrounding it in the recent years. Starring Vivek, Richa Chadda, Angad Bedi, Gulshan Devaiah, the web series is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. According to sources close to 40-year-old Vivek, his character is inspired by the former tainted cricket administrator. No official confirmation regarding it has come from the makers yet.
Modi was sacked in 2010 as Commissioner of the IPL after his name cropped up in a scandal in the IPL over alleged money laundering. He is currently on a self-imposed exile in UK. Apparently, Richa’s character is said to be inspired by Preity Zinta, who co-owns IPL franchise, Kings XI Punjab, while Angad’s role is loosely modelled on limited over captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Gulshan will play a cricketer with grey shades. The web series is being shot in Mumbai and it might go on air by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, former Indian Premier League (IPL) Commissioner Lalit Modi’s son Ruchir has been elected as the President of Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) Alwar District. His entry into management is similar to what his father did in 2004, when he was elected the President of RCA Nagore district. Modi’s son Ruchir elected president of RCA, Alwar district

Six months later, he took over as the President of RCA. Ruchir did visit the RCA office in Jaipur on July 21 and there was speculation of him having a role in cricket administration in some capacity. But his election as chief of the Alwar district of RCA has come as a surprise. Ruchir also bought a land in Alwar to be eligible to be President.
