Kings XI Punjab lose two wickets in quick succession as Hashim Amla and Wriddhiman Saha get dismissed in Match 53 of the ninth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) at Visakhapatnam. Openers Hashim Amla and Murali Vijay provided a strong start to the visitors but Saha could not maintain the momentum and got out early. Hashim Amla, who has been included to the side towards the end of the tournament as a replacement of Shaun Marsh who pulled out of the tournament following his injury, has been exceptional with the bat and earlier played a terrific innings of 95 runs off 56 deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Earlier, KXIP skipper Murali Vijay won the toss and elected to bat first. Vijay opened the batting alongside Amla and Irfan Pathan opened bowling for RPS. Amla showed his class from the very start hitting two boundaries in the first over itself. The two together brought up 50 for the team with a six from Amla over cover. But Amla could not continue the run for long. Ravichandran Ashwin removed him off a short ball as he went up to give in to George Bailey at mid-wicket. Amla scored 30 off 27.

Wriddhiman Saha, who came out to bat following Amla, also departed soon scoring only 3 runs as Bailey took a good catch at slip off an Adam Zampa delivery. Vijay is currently batting with Gurkeerat Mann with 88 runs on board after 12 overs.
