Chasing a challenging target of 207, Delhi Capitals were under pressure until Sameer Rizvi stepped up with a fearless innings that completely changed the game. His knock, which included three fours and four massive sixes, earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award and guided DC to victory in 19.3 overs.
“Feels good to get the POTM. Have been working hard for 2-3 months about my game. I didn’t have confidence before that I’d do well, but it has come after this innings,” Rizvi said after the match, as quoted from ESPNcricinfo.
When Rizvi came in to bat, Delhi Capitals still required more than 114 runs. He took a moment to settle before launching a well-timed attack on the Punjab bowlers.
“When I went in, we needed more than 120. I took 4-5 balls, knew that the wicket was good, and then played my shots,” he explained
Rizvi, who entered in the final phase of the chase, teamed up well with Tristan Stubbs (18*), and together they made sure there were no more setbacks, leading Delhi to victory with three balls remaining.
However, Punjab Kings has already qualified for the playoffs, they are currently at the second place with 17 points.
