As BCCI are continuing to hunt for India’s next head coach, the applicants are many but no outcome from any. Former cricketers have been backing Rahul Dravid to take up the role but no interest has been shown by the India’s legend. But there is certain someone who has expressed his interest to coach India – Heath Streak. The former Zimbabwean has expressed his desire to coach India. He has been credited for bringing up gems from Bangladesh in form of Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. The Indian team at the moment do not have any permanent coach after Duncun Fletcher’s resignation. With so many speculations regarding the possible contenders, the speculation gets tricky. Recently, BCCI took decision to put up advertisements for this particular role. With the appointment of Anurag Thakur as BCCI President, a number of clauses has been included for the role as well. One of them is knowledge of Hindi and other regional languages. Ravi Shastri, who has been handling the team for interim process, is keen to apply for the role again. Streak could have had chances earlier had he take the step soon. But never the less he will remain a strong contender as well amongst former Indian cricketer. Streak has shown his stint in IPL as bowling coach for The Gujarat Lions (GL). The announcement for India’s next head coach will be done ahead of West Indies tour on June 24.
