COLOMBO Strikers suffered a crushing 50-run defeat to Dambulla Aura in a crucial game of the Lanka Premier League. Colombo Strikers were bowled out for a mere 116 in the chase of 167. Babar Azam has been in fine form in the LPL but had a rare failure against Aura. Babar was dismissed for 11 by Pakistan teammate Hasan Ali.
After dismissing Babar Azam, Hasan Ali did not celebrate in his usual way and smiled at Babar Azam as he went past him.
After the match, Hasan Ali opened up on his decision to not celebrate Babar’s wicket. Hasan said Babar is his captain and he has utmost respect for him which is why he decided not to celebrate his wicket.
“He is our king and my skipper, so there is always a respect element and that’s why I didn’t celebrate. I think it’s a massive celebration for me to get him out in the circle. We know he can change the game anytime,” Hasan said.
Babar Azam has been in staggering form in LPL and is the tournament’s leading run-scorer. Babar is also the only centurion in LPL 2023 so far. Unfortunately, he has not got support from other members which has resulted in the team struggling at the bottom of the points table with two wins in six games.
