The match has been called off due to heavy rains and wet outfield. There is no sign of the weather improving as of now. The second game of the day, between Mumbai Indians vs Otago Volts, is at the same venue.
5.10pm IST: Simon Doull, one of the commentators, has just tweeted the following:
First game called off and news to follow later on MI Volts game. Rain has eased but ground soaked.. #CLT20

However, we have no official confirmation of the same.
4.45pm IST: 6.40pm is the cut-off time for the match. If the match doesn’t commence by then, the game will be abandoned.
4pm IST: The rain has come pouring down at Ahmedabad and doesn’t look to be receding at all. We are mostly looking like a truncated match. Remember that both matches scheduled for today are being held at Ahmedabad.
Highveld Lions captain Alviro Peterson has won the toss and elected to field against the Perth Scorchers in the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2013 at Ahmedabad.
Scorchers skipper Simon Katich says he would have bowled as well. It is really dark at Ahmedabad as the two teams prepare to take field. It could start pouring any moment.
