Hung Hom JD Jaguars showed immense calm under pressure throughout the second innings and prevailed over Kowlon Cantons by 18 runs in Match 6 of the Hong Kong T20 Blitz 2017. Callum Macleod played a good hand for the Cantons and added a 54-run stand for the third wicket with Marlon Samuels. After Samuels was dismissed, Macleod too walked back to the pavilion for a 31-ball 43. As a result, there were two new batsmen at the crease and the Cantons never really got going after that, thereby falling short of their target. With this win, Jaguars have picked up four points from their three matches and now go top of the table. Misbah: Playing in Hong Kong T20 Blitz a different experience
Earlier, Johan Botha played a superb innings, scoring 65 off just 37, coming in at No. 6. He later returned with figures of 1 for 17 in his 4 overs. Other than Botha, Jonathan Foo contributed 34 and the duo put on 80 for the fifth wicket, which swung the game back in Jaguars’ favour. For the Cantons on the other hand, they never really found any sort of momentum once Samuels was dismissed.
Despite this loss, both teams still remain in contention for a place in the finals, scheduled to be played on Sunday. The following two games have become a must win for the Cantons. A loss in that game could see them crash out of the tournament. Earlier, Cantons had won the toss and elected to bowl first.
