Young Australian pacer Mitchell Starc said he has acquired the necessary resilience need cope to the rigours first-class cricket.

“I’ve said a lot through the year my body’s starting to become accustomed to bowling a lot of overs. It can come back to pre-season as well and how much work you’re putting in there,” Starc was quoted saying by Sydney Morning Herald.

“For me, I can’t speak on anyone else’s behalf, but getting preparation in my body to bowl lots of overs – starting in March right through the off-season – has been good for my preparation coming into the season and hardened my body to cope with the rigours of first-class cricket,” he added.

Starc said his improved fitness came after liaising closely with state and national strength and conditioning staff.

“There’s people who say fast bowlers don’t harden up until they’re 25, 26. There’s always going to be a risk when guys are playing first-class cricket at such a young age but you just have to find a happy medium there and you’re not bowling too much and not bowling enough,” he added.
